A Sociological Study of Artistcide
‘A Sociological Study of Artistcide’ was a reaction to the suppression of individual artists in Iranian art community where, without political connections, it is very difficult if not impossible to thrive as an artist. This series of paintings using mixed media seeks to visualize the plight of the artist caught in this realm. The piece itself, through collage of photographs and propaganda imagery that promote regime-approved initiatives, highlights the elements that contribute to the stifling of the artistic voice.
It was through the exploration of these pieces that I ultimately came to the decision to emigrate to the United States and seek new creative opportunities.
