Little Carpet Weavers

Series of illustrations completed for a book by Houshang Moradi Kermani. The story covers the lives of small children in poor areas of Iran that have been sold by their parents to businessmen to weave traditional carpets by hand for the rest of their lives.

Although the carpets are colorful and beautiful, the lives of these children are dark and tragic. The gauche technique is used to depict the colorful carpets, and brown ink comes to represent the woeful lives of the kids.
